Katherine House residents, Meera and Leonard are a lovely married couple. For the One Wish Project, they simply wished to have a meal together and so the team got to work. The Wellbeing Team created a beautiful romantic space in the upstairs lounge to set the scene; the room has a scenic view across Bristol whilst being surrounded by nature.
The table was decorated like a restaurant, with the addition of freshly bought red roses and pretty ornaments. The fabulous care team supported the couple to look their very best; Meera was pampered and her make up looked so beautiful, whilst Leonard was dressed in a smart traditional suit.
Our talented chef designed a three-course meal, which was inspired by the Meera and Leonard’s Asian heritage and the Wellbeing Team transformed into waitresses for the afternoon to ensure that our VIP diners felt like VIP’s. As the couple entered the room, Meera was moved to tears.
Romantic music from the 1950s could be heard in the background and the Wellbeing Team then supported Leonard to serenade his wife on the microphone; this meant a lot to Leonard as he used to sing on stage professionally and Meera looked very proud of her husband.
Meera and Leonard were full of compliments and very touched by the kindness from staff in the home. They appreciated some one-to-one time together in a special date night setting, something that they haven’t had the opportunity to do for some time. This inspired conversations about how they had met and they enjoyed reminiscing about their lives
together.
The Wellbeing Team suggested that this could be a more regular occasion, to which Meera and Leonard were delighted.
“This is such a lovely surprise and a fantastic experience. You have gone to so much effort for us, we would never have expected this. We really appreciate your kindness.”
