The Cote Charity
Katherine & Griffiths House are part of the Cote Charity which was founded in 1955 by Katherine Gotch Robinson who bought Cote House in Westbury-on-Trym and transformed the building into flats for older residents.
In 1968 the Society of Merchant Venturers (SMV) was appointed Trustee for the Cote Charity, bringing to the organisation their vast experience and resources in providing care for older people. SMV continues to play a hands-on role in the governance and strategic development of the Cote Charity today. In order to provide high quality, purpose-built accommodation for older people, Katherine House was opened in the grounds of Cote House in 2009, with Griffiths House following in 2016 as a sister home dedicated to providing high quality dementia care. The work undertaken by the Cote Charity is also supported by the Grateful Society which provides valuable resources and funds, enhancing the care provided to our residents.
