Katherine House resident, Peter, has a passion for nature. Peter was once the Secretary of the Royal Naval Birdwatching Society, and he has lived a lifetime of adventures through both his work and personal travel. Peter’s love of wildlife still shines; he goes for daily walks, often bringing his binoculars and sharing with others the animals and plants he has seen. When approached about the One Wish Project, Peter asked to go somewhere he could see animals and be outside in the fresh air. The Wellbeing Team sourced the Wild Place Project, an attraction that provides outdoor adventure and learning. Every visit supports the charities conservation work, and this is something that was of particular interest to Peter. Accompanied by Katherine House residents, the Wellbeing Team, members of the care team and our minibus driver, Peter was able to enjoy a visit to the Wild Place Project on a beautiful sunny day. Residents were able to meet amazing animals from around the world, from the mischievous lemurs of Madagascar to magnificent European brown bears. Peter had a picnic lunch in the fresh air, a beautiful scenic tree top walk and particularly enjoyed observing exotic birds from around the world. Katherine House funded Peter’s ticket as part of the One Wish Project. He thanked us for the special occasion, tailored to his interests.
