“My Mum had been at a previous care home, but I felt that it wasn’t a great fit. This Care Home was a complete contrast. The smaller home style setting suited Mum much better, and the real difference was the staff. I felt that they genuinely cared for Mum and that was a huge comfort over the months,
particularly as Mum’s dementia worsened. I knew she was safe and warm and that everyone at the home was doing their very best to keep her as well and engaged as possible in the circumstances. Staff sent regular email updates to keep us in the loop with how Mum had been in the week, which was particularly useful for my sister who lives abroad. It was lovely to hear positive stories of Mum interacting with staff and during activities. As Mum entered end of life care, they went out of their way to ensure she didn’t need to be moved and was able to spend her last days peacefully and they really looked after me and my family too at a really difficult time for us.”
